Brunello, sales volume increases
A steady production while the turnover reaches 180 million Euros (+10%)
180 million Euros for the 2017 turnover, meaning 10 million more than 2016. Exports reach 70% of the total production. These are the data provided by Brunello Wine Consortium in Montalcino, in the occasion of “Benvenuto Brunello” event dedicated to the new wine-years’ introduction onto the market: Brunello di Montalcino 2013, Riserva 2012, Rosso di Montalcino 2016, Moscadello and Sant’Antimo.
The production is steady: 9,010,369 Brunello bottles blocked in 2017 (0.65% less than 2016) and 4,617,384 Rosso bottles (-0.34% compared to the previous year). Sant’Antimo (250 thousand bottles) and Moscadello (40,000 unit) are steady too.
Dealing with export, the market is driven by USA (over 30%), followed by Europe (UK, Germany and Switzerland as leaders) reaching 20%, the Asian markets (China, Japan, Hong Kong, etc.) achieve 15%, Canada (12%) while Center and South America (8%). The remaining 15% is handled by the other markets.
