The MD of Italian Dalma Mangimi
The General Assembly of the Effpa (the European Former Foodstuff Processors Association) elected Valentina Massa , president of the European Ex Foodstuff Processors Association. Massa is the Managing Director of Dalma Mangimi, one of the largest Italian processing companies of former food products, as well as a founding member of Effpa itself. His predecessor, Paul Featherstone , has held the position of president since the association was founded in 2014.
Massa commented: “I am honored by the trust placed in me by Effpa members to guide the association in its goal of producing safe and sustainable feed from former food products. The food processing industry is determined to demonstrate to policymakers and chain partners that it holds the key to producing low-carbon feed and producing food that can reduce food waste, in line with the Farm to Fork strategy". The new president specified that the supply chain plays a fundamental role in the circular food economy, and is essential for achieving more sustainable livestock production.
On the same occasion, the Effpa also elected Guy Lannoy (Valoria) in the role of vice president. Lannoy is one of the two vice presidents of the association, alongside Kees van Gorp (Vido).
Featherstone took his leave of office with these words: “It was a great honor to have been the first president of Effpa and to have been able to leave an international mark in the sector in which I have been working for over 30 years. In recent decades, I have seen the sector grow to become a fully recognized player in the European feed chain. I am leaving the sector with great growth potential, considering its fundamental role in achieving the goal of reducing food waste and enhancing the sustainable production of compound feed".
