Riccardo Cotarella signs the Eisacktaler Kellerei wines
A consultancy to enhance the territory and create new labels
Riccardo Cotarella , one of the best known Italian oenologists, will sign the wines of the Eisacktaler Kellerei Eisack Valley winery, and will cover the role of consultant starting from the current harvest and at the dawn of an important anniversary, that of 60 years that reality cooperative will accomplish in 2021.
The Isarco Valley is one of the most interesting wine-growing regions in Europe for the production of white wines. Here viticulture benefits from a considerable temperature range between day and night, from the proximity to the mountains, from scarce rains and many hours of sunshine throughout the year. In this setting grow grapes such as: Kerner, Sylvaner, Müller Thurgau, Grüner Veltliner, Gewürztraminer, Riesling, which give life to fresh, savory, mineral wines, with high percentages of alcohol.
Cotarella is a consultant for over a hundred companies in Italy and abroad and is also the national president of Assoenologi and professor of viticulture and enology at the University of Tuscia in Viterbo. Armin Gratl, general manager of the winery, commented: "We chose Riccardo Cotarella for his great national and international experience, as well as for his desire to compete with a territory unknown to him until now, convinced that our winemaker Hannes Munter can draw from this advice a great help for a professional growth that goes from the countryside to the cellar".
Eisacktaler Kellere owns a variety of microclimates and vines distributed on rugged slopes and steep slopes, difficult to cultivate. Gratl explains that these are light and poor soils, rubble of glacial origins and fluvial sediments, with low intrinsic yields. "We cultivate 10 white and 4 red grape varieties for a total of 950 thousand bottles produced per year. Many of our members are really small, they have on average just over a hectare, but they devote very high care and attention".
"For this important anniversary we will present some news, such as the wines resulting from this harvest that will be released in 2021 by Cotarella and also the Aristos 2019 selections. For our sixty years we will also launch a completely renewed image, a new logo and new labels ", concludes the general manager.
