Luca Rigotti elected president Copa-Cogeca's wine group
First time for an Italian as president of the working group
Rigotti, a wine entrepreneur, is president of the Mezzacorona Group and wine coordinator of the Alleanza agri-food cooperatives.
Luca Rigotti was elected by acclamation president of Vino working group of Copa-Cogeca, the main European agri-food representative organization. He succeeds Frenchman Thierry Coste, who held the post for 11 years. It is the first time that an Italian has been elected to the presidency of the Vino group. Rigotti, 56, entrepreneur in the wine sector, graduated in law, has been president of the Mezzacorona Group and of the subsidiary Nosio Spa since 2012; in 2019 he assumed the role of coordinator of the wine sector of the Agri-food Cooperative Alliance, which associates 400 cooperative wineries that produce 58% of Italian wine.
“I thank all the delegations for the support and trust they have shown in me by supporting my candidacy as Italian representative”, declared the president Rigotti. “Mine will be a mandate in the name of continuity with the important work carried out by Coste in recent years to which special thanks go for the professionalism and commitment shown. I believe that it will be essential to continue to promote dialogue and an active involvement of all the countries represented in the working group: only in this way will we be able to face and overcome the many challenges facing the sector. If this is true in absolute terms, it is even more so in this phase of extreme difficulty that the productive world is going through". “It is my goal", concludes the new president of the Copa Cogeca Wine group, "at the same time, to continue promoting a fruitful dialogue with the European institutions and with other European organizations representing the wine sector".
