Uk. Nestlé focuses on ready-made recipes

The Group acquires the SimplyCook company

Nestlé said it plans to acquire the SimplyCook ready-to-eat recipe company. Another move to strengthen its direct consumer offering in the UK. Founded in 2014, SimplyCook combines "easy to follow" recipes with pre-portioned flavor blends that are delivered directly to consumers. The company distributes the flavored preparations in a recyclable letterbox-sized box which is delivered across the UK via the postal service. The acquisition will further expand Nestlé's direct-to-consumer business portfolio at a time when "dining at home has become more important than ever".

Following the acquisition, SimplyCook will continue to be led by its founding team from its London office, supported by Nestlé's support and expertise.
Stefano Agostini, CEO of Nestlé UK & Ireland, said: “I am delighted to welcome the SimplyCook team to Nestlé. We share the ambition to make cooking more accessible by offering delicious, nutritious and affordable solutions. This is a profitable partnership for both parties as Nestlé will continue to transform its portfolio and SimplyCook will accelerate its growth. There is a growing demand for tasty and nutritionally balanced foods and this move underlines our focus on investing in companies with attractive growth prospects and acting on current trends".

Oli Ashness, CEO of SimplyCook, added: "Nestlé's experience, operational expertise and international know-how offer us the opportunity to further expand in the UK and beyond, making cooking more accessible to millions of consumers and in a very short time compared to what could have been done in the past. We already have a great team with a diverse set of skills that will continue to run the business with the same entrepreneurial spirit and data-driven approach and putting the consumer at the center of it all what does".
