Agricultural machinery: Sace and Cdp support Antonio Carraro

€ 7 million loan for the growth of company, excellence of Made in Italy

Cdp and Sace sign an operation that supports the growth of Antonio Carraro SpA, a Padua-based company among the world leaders and excellence of Made in Italy in the strategic sector of agricultural machinery and civil maintenance. The 7 million euro loan, with a duration of 6 years, is disbursed by CDP and guaranteed in a short time by Sace through the Italian Guarantee, the instrument of the Liquidity Decree intended to support Italian companies affected by the Covid-19 emergency. The new resources will flow into the company's consolidation and growth investment plan in Italy. In fact, in 2020, coinciding with the 110th anniversary of its foundation, the works to expand the production spaces began in Antonio Carraro through the acquisition of an industrial area of about 10,000 square meters adjacent to the historic Campodarsego site (Pd).

The company founds its roots in 1910 by Giovanni Carraro, father of the current president Antonio. Since the 1970s, the Antonio Carraro brand has been the undisputed leader in registration rankings in Italy and among the first in Europe in the compact tractor segment.

The production is divided into more than 80 models for the specialized agriculture sector (vineyards, orchards and row crops), as well as a series of vehicles for civil maintenance (urban cleaning, road traffic and maintenance of public and sports green). The construction philosophy makes use of the “lean” principles, introduced since 1999 by Porsche Consulting. It stands out for its constant innovation and production flexibility: each tractor is “tailor made”, built on the basis of the requests of each customer. The company exports 65% of its production to 42 countries around the world and has about 500 employees between its headquarters and commercial branches in Australia, Spain, France and Turkey.

Marcello Carraro, CEO of Antonio Carraro SpA commented: “We are very satisfied with this operation which will finance the expansion works of the new production departments of our company. The positive and ever-growing sales trend of our tractors worldwide over the past five years has given us the impetus to undertake new investments. Today, our company is structured and increasingly projected into the future, with a brand recognized throughout the world for the quality of its products equipped with sometimes unique innovative solutions". "This operation confirms the role of CDP alongside Italian companies, such as Antonio Carraro, which know how to stand out in their reference markets, for the constant search for cutting-edge methods and for the strong imprint of tradition and made in Italy in their excellent products - echoed Paolo Calcagnini, Deputy Director General of Cdp -. Furthermore, the agro-industrial sector in which the company operates represents one of the strategic sectors for our country with positive impacts on the entire local and national economic fabric".

"Our commitment to supporting Made in Italy, and in particular to an excellence that makes constant innovation and strong product specialization a distinctive sign, is always at the highest levels", declared Alberto Turchetto, Mid Corporate manager of the North-East of Sace. “We are proud to support in its growth road map a brand that has become synonymous with Italianness over time, understood as maximum quality and reliability. A strategic growth for the entire supply chain and for the country's economic recovery".
