Wisecap: a new brand is born for Cds

Expression of growth and innovation process of recent years

The Cds group, active in the production of plastic capsules for beverage, consisting of Cds Srl of Piacenza, Viroplastic of Calenzano (Fi), Viroplastic Cz in the Czech Republic, Manufacturas Inplast in Spain and Viki Plast in Poland, acquired in January 2021, creates the new Wisecap brand. "The name Wisecap is the expression of the experience gained in the production of plastic caps for the beverage industry, with over 40 years of presence on the market and continuous investments in technology and innovation", says a press release. Founded in the 70s as an industry active in the production of various kinds of plastic items, it subsequently specialized in products intended for contact "with food": cutlery, plates, trays, glasses and base-cup for PET bottles.

In the 1990s, CDS entered the segment of plastic caps for bottles. In 2007 with the acquisition of Viroplastic, based in Calenzano (Fi), Cds becomes a major player at national level. In 2013 with the acquisition of Viroplastic CZ in the Czech Republic, it enters the European market with a further expansion of production. In 2017, with the entry into the capital by the private equity fund Taste of Italy and the acquisition of Manufacturas Inplast, Spanish leader in the core business of Cds, the group consolidated itself as a European leader in the supply of plastic closures. In the early days of 2021, despite the global pandemic conditions, Viki Plast, a manufacturer of caps for water cooler dispensers, also joined the Group: this acquisition is part of the strategy of expanding the markets and diversifying the Group's offer.

"In this path of growth and establishment of the new Wisecap Group", comments the CEO and Group chairman Alessandro Delfanti , "we have recognized the values that have guided us since the birth of our company, helping to build an important reality at European level: sustainability, capacity and sharing. Thanks to the people who work in Wisecap, we have been able to offer cutting-edge solutions for the beverage sector: weight reduction and ease of use are the main features of the products that best represent the value of sustainability. Thanks to our technicians in the research & development department, we are always attentive to the changing needs of consumers and respect for the environment".
