Mario Francese in his fourth term as president of Italian Airi

The outgoing presidency council has been reconfirmed, as a sign of continuity

Mario Francese was re-elected by the shareholders' meeting of Airi (Association of Italian rice industries), which also confirmed Giovanni Vignola, owner of the Balzola rice mill of the same name, as vice president and kept the composition of the outgoing board unchanged. "A decision that clearly expresses the cohesion of the industrial front and the desire to pursue its objectives in line with the positions expressed in recent years", explains a press release. For Francese, who has been president of the Italian Airi since 2015, this is the fourth reconfirmation; born in Vercelli, a life dedicated to the world of rice, since 1994 he has held the position of CEO of the Euricom group, one of the most important companies in the rice sector globally.

After having held multiple positions of responsibility in the main institutions of the sector, today he sits on the executive board of Ferm (Federation of European rice industries based in Brussels). Airi represents 31 Italian rice industries, which account for over 80% of the national turnover and which absorb almost all of the paddy rice produced in Italy. For over forty years at the forefront of protecting the interests of the sector, the association looks favorably on a balanced development of the market, accompanied by a desirable increase in rice fields, which today would allow it to offer more and more domestic and foreign consumers Italian rice.

"With the awareness that the near future will be characterized by some epochal challenges, one above all, the green revolution, the reconfirmation of the governance of Airi guarantees continuity to a path aimed at reaching increasingly ambitious quality standards, at the same time adopting all the necessary actions to safeguard national production", concludes the press release.
