Granarolo buys 100% of Mulino Formaggi
The investment will allow to expand the international offer in the hard cheese segment
Granarolo SpA acquires 60% of Mulino Formaggi Srl from Mulino Alimentare SpA, bringing its stake from 40% to 100% of the capital. Mulino Formaggi was born in Parma in 2018 following the meeting of two realities strongly present in the territory and specialized in the packaging and marketing of Italian hard cheeses in the world: Mulino Alimentare (company headed by the entrepreneur Claudio Guidetti ) and Gennari Italia controlled 100% from Granarolo.
The Parma plant today represents a strategic tool for the commercial development of the Granarolo hard cheese business unit, in particular as regards Parmigiano Reggiano Dop, which is flanked by the "Quattrocento" product line, an Italian hard cheese produced with milk from Granarolo supply chain. "The plant has an important production capacity and offers all the best packaging technologies to satisfy the most demanding and distant markets and the various consumption occasions", says a press release.
"We are continuing along the consolidation path traced last year with Venchiaredo", declares Gianpiero Calzolari , president of Granarolo. "The Mulino Formaggi operation has already produced important results and synergies on the industrial level and allows Granarolo to follow up the 2021- 2023 which provides, among other things, a focus on milk and derivatives in the name of sustainability, greater production efficiency and greater specialization of the plants. In this way the presence of Granarolo in a region with an important productive vocation grows. The acquisition will allow us to go abroad with products in demand, especially on highly recognizable international markets".
