Antoine de Saint-Affrique is the new CEO of Danone

Appointed after years of experience at Barry Callebaut and Unilever

Danone has appointed the director of Barry Callebaut, Antoine de Saint-Affrique, as the new CEO, who will take office starting September 15, 2021.
The decision comes after Danone CEO and Chairman Emmanuel Faber resigned from both roles within two weeks, following shareholder pressure on governance changes (see EFA News article from 3-3-21). Saint-Affrique will succeed the interim leadership of Véronique Penchienati-Bosetta and Shane Grant .

Antoine de Saint-Affrique joins Danone after a long career at global chocolate manufacturer and cocoa processor Barry Callebaut, for which he served as CEO since October 2015. Prior to Barry Callebaut, he held a number of positions management at Unilever, such as the role of president of the company's food division for four years. De Saint-Affrique also served as executive vice president of leather at Unilever, as well as the central and eastern European region of the company. Danone will discuss the appointment of de Saint-Affrique as a member of the board at the next annual shareholders' meeting to be held in April 2022.
