AquaVision 2020: biennial conference of the aquaculture sector

Event organized by Skretting and Nutreco to discuss industry challenges and opportunities

For the first time AcquaVision 2020, the biennial conference of the aquaculture sector organized by Skretting and Nutreco, took place in virtual mode. The event that has brought together decision makers from around the world since 1996 to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the sector was broadcast from Stavanger in Norway.

Rob Koremans , CEO of Nutreco, said that in the next 30 years it will be necessary to provide more food than has been generated in the last 8,000 years, and added: "We must all work together, exchange ideas, engage in pre-competitive platforms and participate in events. for stakeholders like AquaVision. Our hope is that everyone who attended today will commit and take this responsibility. We use this forum as a platform for change, so that together we can be part of something much bigger; something that solve the challenges of tomorrow today ".

The event saw presentations by speakers Peter Hinssen and Rachel Botsman and experts Robert van den Breemer , Catherine Tubb and Andrew Campbell , who shed light on the trends that characterize the current consumer landscape, on the changes that are taking place at horizon and the opportunities aquaculture has to create more accessible, nutritious and sustainable proteins by rapidly adopting new innovative and sustainable solutions.

Therese Log Bergjord , CEO of Skretting, commented: "Our mission is to 'feed the future', and to do this, aquaculture must be sustainable, produce more with less, be innovative, and provide consumers with products. healthy and tasty. AquaVision 2020 has highlighted that profound changes are inevitable, but that change is not necessarily negative but can be a source of new opportunities ". Finally, Giovanni Serrini , CEO of Skretting Italia, spoke, saying: "What emerged from AquaVision gives us confidence and energy to continue the journey started three years ago with our customers and other stakeholders in the supply chain with the 'Acqua in Bocca' project '. A journey towards aquaculture that knows how to make sustainability not only its modus operandi but also a lever to create new value in the sector ”.
