New York: Venchi lands in the Village
Second chocolate shop in the Big Apple. The expansion plan continues with Simest support
Venchi's art of Italian chocolate continues to expand abroad and aims at the rich American market with a new chocolate ice cream shop in New York in the prestigious West Village area, at 233 Bleecker Street, where previously there was a Grom ice cream parlor, following an expansion plan supported by the loan from Simest which participated in the share capital increase in the US sub-holding, thus acquiring 33.33%. The investment plan, equal to 7 million euros, provides for the strengthening of the retail sales network (25 new chocolatiers in the five-year period 2020-20204), as well as the implementation of an e-commerce platform.
The Venchi brand was born in Piedmont in 1878 and is now internationally known for the production and marketing of chocolate and semi-finished products for medium / high-end ice cream parlors.
All production is carried out at the Italian plant located in Cuneo and marketing takes place through the agent and retail networks. The Group is now present with its own points of sale in many of the main Italian cities and airports and abroad in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, USA and China. To date, the company has 350 chocolate recipes, 90 ice cream flavors and an international presence with 125 stores around the world distributed in more than 70 countries.
"The American adventure began in 2010 with a partnership with Eataly, of which we are very proud, - stated Daniele Ferrero, president and CEO of the company - with the opening of US" shop in shop". Then we started the expansion direct to the USA with a first shop at number 861 on Broadway, in Union Square, with the largest waterfall of chocolate in the world, built by Tuscan-Emilian engineers". To which is now added the new local in the Village.
The Venchi Group achieved a turnover of approximately 99 million euros and a net result of almost 10 million euros in 2020, employing 885 employees.
