EU: New Polish PGI approved

Kiełbasa pradziada z Dukli, sausage made from pork meat and liver, enters the register

The European Commission has approved the registration of Kiełbasa pradziada z Dukli from Poland as a protected geographical indication (PGI).
Kiełbasa pradziada z Dukli is a sausage made from the meat and liver of pigs of the Puławska breed or cross-breds, originally from Dukla, a municipality in south-eastern Poland.

The sausage is known for its rich flavor profile, combining prosciutto with generous chunks of pork liver and a deep smoky aroma from traditional beech and alder wood, with the addition of sweet cherry or sour cherry wood. The raw materials and production process are rooted in local knowledge and expertise passed down from generation to generation.
