Mondelēz Internazional celebrates the second "Purpose Day" of the year
Awareness raising on food waste in collaboration with Banco Alimentare
Today, October 1, 2020, Mondel Internationalz International, Inc., a snacking company celebrates its second annual "Purpose Day" to strengthen its commitment to a more sustainable product, and celebrate its eighth year of activity.
Purpose Day is based on the company's promise to offer snacks made according to methodologies that have a positive end-to-end impact on the world and the communities in which it operates, and on the commitment to consume less energy and water, reduce waste and decrease emissions. In Italy, Mondelēz International celebrates this day by strengthening its long-standing partnership with Banco Alimentare, with which it addresses the issue of the fight against food waste with employees through information sessions, cooking challenges with anti-waste recipes and the launch of a fundraiser for donate meals to the most needy, which will be recovered and distributed by the Banco Alimentare network.
The company in 2020 reduced Co2 emissions in production activities by 15%, reduced water use by 27% and production waste by 21%. This commitment continues with the objectives for 2025, which foresee the reduction of CO2 emissions by 10% and to make 100% of the packaging recyclable and labeled with information on recycling for the consumer.
