The Italian family history in the new book by Andrea Zanfi

Andrea Zanfi, in the new book "La scommessa del Morellino", ("The Morellino bet") goes behind the scenes of the family that occupies the first place in the production of Morellino DOCG, the famous wine.

If today, among the major producers of Morellino DOCG at an international level, there is the Tuscany Mantellassi Farm, this is due to the tenacious work of a family that, from 1960 to this day, has been committed to taking care of their land, in the Maremma, and has never stopped doing so, first through the founder Ezio Mantellassi and then also his sons, Aleardo and Giuseppe, who today run the company with the same determination and resourcefulness as their father.

The one who talks about it is the author and publisher Andrea Zanfi, expert in food and wine, on the occasion of the sixthiet year of activity of the Farm, in his book "The Morellino bet", which in the title recalls the bet Ezio Mantellassi made in investing in an activity that in the postwar years did not seem to promise much, especially for family businesses. Mantellassi, who ran a hotel business in Liguria, returned to his land in the Maremma every year and it was there that, with so much effort and many sacrifices, but above all with a strong passion, he embarked on the path that would lead to his empire; that's where Ezio Mantellassi made his "bet".

In the interview with the author, Zanfi declared that his intention was to show "the truth", not to talk only about numbers, but to tell with the necessary sensitivity the story of a family with which he has been in contact with for many years now, of which he talks about with affection and esteem and which he defines as "wonderfully straightforward, like the wine they keep producing".
