Wine: Chianti travels to Asia
Starting today, seminars and tastings in Japan, Vietnam and China
Virtual events to guide Asian operators to the knowledge of the denomination: we start again with Osaka, then Ho Chi Minh, Tokyo and Vinitaly Chengdu 2021 in April
Japan, China and Vietnam are the stages of the journey that Chianti has undertaken. Virtual meetings, of course, but absolutely real tastings and promotions. The Chianti Wine Consortium thus enters the heart of the campaign to promote the denomination starting from Asia.
We start today with the OCM project, from Osaka, and to follow on March 22 in Tokyo. Online seminars entitled "Chianti DOCG: quintessence of Tuscany. Horizontal tasting of the 2019 vintage". Seven labels of the 2019 vintage will be presented representing the subzones. Leading the participants will be the journalist Isao Miyajima from Japan, and in connection with Italy the president of the Chianti Wine Consortium, Giovanni Busi, and Luca Alves, Wine ambassador. Tomorrow, the trip will stop in Vietnam, in Ho Chi Minh: here the seminar will be an opportunity to deepen the knowledge of six labels representing the different types of Chianti DOCG, i.e. Annata, Superiore, Riserva and Vin Santo del Chianti DOC.
"The modalities have not changed the interest of the sector operators for Chianti - said the president Busi -. The Consortium with these promotional actions aims to further strengthen its presence on this market which, despite the pandemic and the restrictions in force, continues to show interest and appreciation for the denomination. We are convinced that Asia could become one of the most important markets worldwide in a few years".
China instead becomes the protagonist from 3 to 6 April, on the occasion of Vinitaly Chengdu 2021 at the Intercontinental Century City. The Consortium will be present with two institutional seminars to present its activity entitled: "The Chianti DOCG: quality, history, territory, protected and guaranteed in the world".
