Coricelli grows in 2020

38.7 million liters of oil sold and double-digit growth, + 15% compared to 2019

Italy is at the center of the development strategy of Pietro Coricelli, the oil company from Spoleto (Umbria) with 80 years of history in the production and marketing of extra virgin olive oil. After the successes achieved abroad from the 70s to today, with a presence in 110 countries around the world, the company has decided to refocus its attention on the domestic market and in a few years has achieved great results thanks to a constant trend of growth (the Italian market went from 42% in 2018, to 44% in 2019 to 53% in 2020). The global turnover of the Group, consisting of the Pietro Coricelli and Olio Cirio brands, (acquired in 2009) reaches € 125,824,000, an increase of 8% compared to 2019; excellent results also in volume with 38.7 million liters of oil sold and double-digit growth, + 15% compared to 2019 (33.8 million).

A plus sign in line with the Ac Nielsen 2020 surveys, where a market share of the Group emerges which records the highest growth in the sector (+2) and settles at 7.7% reaching 4th place in the national ranking. “2020 was a difficult year but retail, which remains our main distribution channel, recorded an increase and as a result we were able to continue our path of growth and consolidation on the national territory; the extra virgin category, which is worth 67% of turnover, remains in its mainstream guise still the best-selling but the new evo references with certified traceability, 100% Italian and organic from the Casa Coricelli line have also made room in the Top 50 Italy”, Declares Chiara Coricelli, CEO of the company.

The investments in R&D have, in fact, allowed the company to launch in 2020 the first line of certified paths of the Casa Coricelli supply chain, consisting of two products, one 100% Italian and one organic, which can be traced back through the Qr Code placed on the label the path from the agricultural field to the bottle. "The Ethnos line is also confirmed as a success, 9 fine, organic, vegan ok and healthy certified seed oils that contain a selection of the best raw materials from the world", says a press release. Oils that continue to grow in triple figures (+ 133% compared to turnover in 2019). The most successful references are coconut, flax, sesame and hemp. For the Group, exports represent 47% of turnover. The main markets are the United States, Spain, Japan, Canada, Russia where the company has been present for over 30 years in the main international brands with its own brands and private labels.

"We continued to invest in digitization with a new e-commerce site to push online and in R&D to continue on the path of innovation with the Casa Coricelli supply chain traceability project which has brought us great satisfaction, a sign that transparency and quality are rewarding. Also 2021 will be a year of great ferment that sees us engaged in a new all-Italian challenge and marks the entry into new markets that go beyond the company's core business of oil: the launch of the new Mediterranean diet line which includes pasta, sauces, pests, past. We have chosen a debut with few references but of high quality in line with the positioning of our brand”, concludes Chiara Coricelli.
