Grana Padano relies on Kpmg for internationalization
The consortium aims for sales growth of at least 11% in 4 years
The production of wheels in 2020 did well, + 2.2%.
As anticipated (see EFA News article of 21/4/2021) Consorzio Grana Padano has decided to rely on an international consultancy company to increase sales on new foreign markets. "In the next four years - explains a note - the Consortium will explore new opportunities with the aim of continuing to increase sales and therefore production, while respecting the quality of the product and the well-being of the environment and the entire supply chain. The Consortium has entrusted itself to one of the most important world companies operating in the field of analysis, development and support, Kpmg".
During the meeting that was held today, the four-year 2021-2024 path of the Consortium was illustrated, which has the ambition to increase consumption from a minimum of + 11% to the desired + 24%, recalling that the consumption trend of the last ten years stood at + 2.1% per annum. "The goal is to overcome, by the end of 2024, the 6 million wheels produced to further consolidate the world's quantitative leadership - announces the president Renato Zaghini - An ambitious challenge for the future, to be achieved through a new, modern and ambitious path which allows us to continue to be the most widely consumed DOP product in the world".
The numbers for 2020 are satisfactory, despite the collapse in catering caused by Covid-19. They were produced in total 5,255,451 wheels (+ 2.2% compared to 2019). 2,112,870 wheels (of 37 kg) were destined for export, which thus recorded a growth of + 3.4%. With 2,900,000 wheels sold in Italy, in our country it represents 59% of the total.
