Strawberries, the Civ varieties present in over 60 countries

Featured at the ninth edition of the international strawberry symposium Iss 2021

The two breeders Leis and Diamanti: “Useful comparison on a global level. Thanks to the organizers Crea and the Marche Polytechnic. See you at the next edition of the Symposium in 2024 in China”.

At the conclusion of the International Strawberry Symposium 2021 (see EFA News article of 28-4-21 ), the presentation of the Iss2021 varietal field at Martorano 5 di Cesena took place last Wednesday 05 May 2021 with a conspicuous presence of new varieties of strawberries of the Italian nursery consortium. The two breeders of the Civ, Michelangelo Leis and Jacopo Diamanti, illustrated the main characteristics of numerous single-seed strawberries with high cold requirements and remontant varieties: Muranopbr, Clerypbr, Jolypbr, Apricapbr Sibillapbr, Vivarapbr, Annely, Lycia, Quicky, Delypbr and Nandipbr (the latter presented by the licensee Coviro di Cervia).

“With our strawberry varieties we are present on the whole world panorama of strawberry growing in over 60 countries. we have leading varieties in France such as Clerypbr, first among the early ones in Germany, or Muranopbr which is among the most cultivated varieties in England. With the research on our single and remontant varieties we have started collaborations in the USA, Mexico and South Africa. Thanks to the consolidated experience, the continuous investments in research & development, the synergy and cooperation with the most qualified public and private research centers at an international level, Civ has always been committed to varietal innovation thanks to sensory characteristics of high quality, adaptability and resistance. to the main pathologies to meet the needs of production, satisfy different customer segments and preserve nature".

"The Iss 2021 edition", the two breeders continue, "was therefore an excellent opportunity for the Civ to deal with the world of research and experimentation thanks to interesting contributions and food for thought of high-level speakers and / or participants international institutions, academics and business operators in the sector. We also had the honor of having partially contributed to the contents of the symposium with the scientific report 'Genetic improvement on strawberry and state of the art of 40 years of Civ experience' by dr. Saverio Orsucci, the sponsorship of the Virtual Technical Tour Northern Area and the presence of some of our varieties in the Virtual Technical Tour Southern Area”.
