On 1 December 2017, the Lactalis group ordered a recall of milk products following a salmonella contamination incident at its factory in Craon, France. In spite of this recall, major supermarket chains have admitted to selling batches of the contaminated milk. Given that Lactalis products are sold in most EU countries and that no export ban has been imposed in respect of batches that have been removed from the shelves in France, has the Commission been notified by the French authorities of a health risk at European level? If so, when was it notified?
What action is the Commission planning to take under the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) to coordinate measures carried out by the Member States to address this new health scandal?
