Valsoia, positive balance in the first 9 months of 2020

Sales revenues published, up +11.9%

The board of directors of Valsoia SpA met today and approved the data relating to sales revenues as at 30 September 2020. Revenues for the first nine months of 2020 amounted to € 64,307 thousand, compared to € 57,464 thousand of the same period 2019. After the increase in food stocks and consumption which took place during the months of the lockdown, there was a positive continuation of the growth in turnover in Italy also in the quarter July-September.

The development of foreign sales is of particular importance, continuing their growth at a sustained pace (+ 34.6%). With reference to the performance of the individual Italian divisions, there was: for the “Food” brands (Santa Rosa, Dietetic and Weetabix) an improvement in revenues of + 16.4%; for the health lines, growth of + 6.6%: in particular beverages + 5.8%, ice cream + 9.3%, vegetable substitutes for meat + 19.1%. This trend is explained by the aforementioned acceleration in the months of the lockdown and by the enlargement of the number of “Treating Families” of the Valsoia Group brand.

This performance was supported by strong media planning which began in February and continued until the summer, with particular effectiveness also given the strong audience for the period. The company is implementing, starting from June, the launch of the innovative line of "food supplements" branded Valsoia (see article EFA News of 6-11-20 ): a line of natural and 100% vegetable products dedicated to the channel GDO. The net financial position as at 30 September 2020 closes with a positive value of € 31.5 million, a progressive increase both compared to 30 June 2020 (positive for Euro 25.8 million) and compared to the same period of the previous year (positive for Euro 24.7 million).

The chairman Lorenzo Sassoli de Bianchi commented: “I express satisfaction with the results of the third quarter which confirm and consolidate the positive trend of the first 6 months of the year. The company continues to safeguard the safety and health of its collaborators, stakeholders and consumers in this long phase of health emergency, guaranteeing business continuity. The growth in sales on international markets and the good results of the 'innovation' continued also during this difficult period with numerous launches, including in particular the Supplements line, is particularly satisfactory”.
