Food: export of products from Argentina rises
Main destinations Brazil, United States, Russia, China, Netherlands, Spain, Chile and Italy
In the first 10 months of 2020, exports from Argentina in the food and beverage category increased by 9.2% in volume compared to the same period of the previous year. Cherries are at the top of the ranking, according to data contained in a report by the Argentine Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, drawn up by the secretariat for food, bioeconomy and regional development.
According to the document, 4,108,000 tons of product were sold during the period for a total of US $ 5,316 million, which also represents a 0.9% growth in the value of shipments. The most important markets in the sector for exports of the South American nation are Brazil, the United States, Russia, China, the Netherlands, Spain, Chile and Italy. It should be noted that the item represents 25% of the value and 11.5% of the total exported volume of food and beverages.
Exports of cherries, raw peanuts and yerba mate concentrates recorded the highest volumes and values in the last 11 years. The export volumes of orange juice and wine were also the highest recorded in the last 11 years. For peanut by-products and residues, the highest volume of the last 10 years was exported. Strawberries, on the other hand, reached the highest volume in the last nine years; the last seven years onions, and the last two years lemons and chickpeas.
