Avignonesi becomes a benefit company

The historic Tuscan winery has focused on organic and biodynamic agriculture

The historic Avignonesi winery, founded in 1974 in Montepulciano and acquired in 2009 by Virginie Saverys, a Belgian entrepreneur who led the turning point towards organic and biodynamic agriculture, has become a benefit company. The Masotti Cassella studio accompanied Avignonesi in the new path of sustainability. "The corporate vocation of Avignonesi, leader in the production of noble Tuscan wines, whose entrepreneurial activity now merges with the search for common benefit in a single business vision, was also sanctioned at the legal level", says a press release.

The team led by partner Francesca Masotti and senior associate Matteo Castronovo assisted the winery in adhering to the new legal model of which Italy is a pioneer in Europe. Thanks to this new status, companies now have the possibility of affirming in the company statute, together with the pursuit of profit, purposes of common benefit as constitutive elements of the company. In this way, Avignonesi sees its way of doing business recognized according to the Italian legal system, "which combines the pursuit of profit with the achievement of the objectives of common benefit that it has always set itself and which have been precisely explained within of its statute", concludes the press release.
