Roncadin obtains ISO 28000 certification

First Italian food company to receive the guarantee on safety of the supply chain

Roncadin, a company from Meduno (Pn) that produces frozen pizzas for the national and international market, has obtained ISO 28000 certification under Accredia accreditation; the standard defines the requirements for the implementation of a safety management system along the entire supply chain (supply chain security). The certification body Bureau Veritas concluded audits a few days ago to verify the standards adopted in the company: under the lens the management systems of critical issues and potential threats linked, for example, to terrorism, fraud, piracy and counterfeiting actions along all stages of the supply chain (warehousing, transport, logistics, etc.).

"Obtaining this certification is a very important goal, the result of a long and meticulous work by Roncadin to implement the most advanced safety systems in all phases of the supply chain", comments the managing director Dario Roncadin. "With the ISO 28000 we offer value both to the final consumer and to the buyers of Italian and foreign large-scale distribution, who can be sure of the compliance of our safety management policies with the highest international standards in this field". "Bureau Veritas, the only body accredited by Accredia for ISO 28000 certification, has seen this standard as a valid ally of international trade; in particular for the food sector, this certification offers further protection for the consumer", comments Andrea Filippi, certification service line manager of Bureau Veritas Italy. "Some large groups are already asking their suppliers to apply the ISO 28000 model to guarantee their supply chain management".

The ISO 28000 certification confirms that the company implements a series of high-level actions aimed at minimizing the risk of counterfeiting and sabotage not only in the production, but also in the logistics chain, ensuring that the product arrives in the hands of the customer final is as fresh out of the factory. In particular, always explains Dario Roncadin, "Trucks and containers leave our production center sealed and padlocked, and can only be opened when they arrive at their destination in the customer's warehouse or in the final distribution platform. This represents a fundamental safety because they cannot be other goods were brought into the cargo, or worse, contraband materials". ISO 28000 joins other Roncadin product and process certifications: Brc Global Standard for Food Safety, Ifs Food, Bioagricert, Vegan, Msc Environmental Standard for Sustainable Fishing and Smeta (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit). The company carries out every year over 3,600 microbiological and chemical analyzes on incoming raw materials and outgoing finished products.
