The new Italian giant of PDO cheeses is born

Parmareggio takes sole control of the Agriform business unit

On the one hand, the leader of Parmigiano Reggiano which belongs to the Bonterre group (over 1 billion in revenues); on the other, the first Venetian reality of DOP cheeses (Grana Padano, Asiago, Piave and others).

After the formalization of the transaction with the notification to the Agcm in early December, from 1 January, Parmareggio acquires exclusive control of the Agriform Sca business unit in Sommacampagna (Verona), active in the production, maturing and packaging of cheeses typical geographical indication. On the one hand, therefore, the leader of Parmigiano Reggiano which belongs from Bonterre group (over 1 billion in revenues); on the other, the first Venetian reality of DOP cheeses (Grana Padano, Asiago, Piave and others). The result is the largest dairy center of certified specialties in Italy, with an aggregate turnover of 550 million euros, of which around 200 are due to exports. Over 2,000 breeders and about 20 dairies belong to the new company. According to the latest Ismea-Qualivita report, cheeses represent the first segment of Italian GIs, with a value of 4.5 billion euros for production (+ 10%) and 7.5 billion for consumption (+ 5%).
