Lab Protein: Mosa Meat raises an additional $ 10 million
Total amount raised by the Dutch company reached 85 million dollars
Dutch food technology company Mosa Meat raised an additional $ 10 million in funding in the third and final close of a Series B round.
This latter capital brings the total amount raised to $ 85 million. The company secured $ 75 million in Series B funding last year (see EFA News article of 7-12-20 ). Mosa Meat brought to market what it claims was the world's first lab-grown beef burger in 2013. The company's latest B-round closure saw backing from both "old" and new investors including Nutreco, and Just Eat Takeaway.com CEO Jitse Groen .
Maarten Bosch, CEO of Mosa Meat said: “The closure of the Series B financing takes us another step towards our mission to develop a cleaner and more ethical way of producing beef. Our partners bring strategic skills and expertise and help us increase the sustainability of our food system globally. "Mosa Meat said it will use the funding for the expansion of the pilot production facility in Maastricht, develop a production line industrial scale and grow his team. Nutreco CEO Rob Koremans said, "I am delighted that Mosa Meat has reached the milestone of large-scale meat production. Nutreco invests in its mission to 'feed the future', thanks to the production of proteins with traditional and alternative methods ".
