The first export campaign of Italian rice in China is underway
Those Italian rice mills that had requested it authorized by Beijing
The Mipaaf announced that the negotiations for the export of Italian rice to China have been concluded. The Italian embassy in Beijing announced today that all the Italian rice mills that had requested to export to China have been authorized by the competent Chinese authorities, applying the protocol signed between the two parties on 8 April 2020. With this last step it is the process that led to the opening of the Chinese market to Italian rice is finally concluded, and the authorized operators will be able to start the first shipments to China.
This result is the result of a long and demanding negotiation activity - writes the Mipaaf - which involved the National Phytosanitary Service, in close synergy with the operators and scientific bodies of reference in the sector, the other structures of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, regional institutions and our diplomatic representation in Beijing.
The president of our National Rice Authority, Paolo Carrà, commented: "We are proud of the result achieved, which will allow our Italian rice to reach a market in which the Made in Italy agri-food sector is registering considerable interest".
