Lactalis acquires Ehrmann Commonwealth Dairy

It is the fourth acquisition for Lactalis in the United States in two years

Lactalis Group has acquired Ehrmann Commonwealth Dairy, the U.S. yogurt business of Ehrmann, a Germany-based dairy company.  Founded in 2009, Ehrmann employs 250 people at facilities in Brattleboro, Vt., and Casa Grande, Ariz. The company’s product line includes yogurt and other dairy products sold under the Green Mountain Creamery and Liebe brands. Ehrmann also provides private label dairy products.

“The Ehrmann acquisition is a terrific complement to our Stonyfield and siggi’s brands in the U.S.”, said Thierry Clement, chief executive officer of Lactalis North America. “Ehrmann’s Vermont and Arizona plants are the ideal platform to develop our star brands, strengthen national distribution, and secure topflight quality and service for our private label customers".

It is the fourth acquisition for Lactalis in the United States in the past two years. The company now operates eight facilities and has more than 2,400 employees in the United States, supporting brands such as President, Galbani, Parmalat, Siggi’s, Stonyfield, Karoun, Rondelé and Black Diamond.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
